Samsung 25W: the tier most Galaxy phones actually top out at.
For the base Galaxy S, the Z Fold, the Z Flip and the A-series, 25W is not the budget option but the correct one: those phones cap here whatever you plug them into.
The published specification
Built from Samsung's published output specification, the PD and PPS standards it implements, and Samsung's documentation of which handsets support which tier: disclosure.
| Item | Specification | What it means in use |
|---|---|---|
| Rated output | 25W | The base Super Fast Charging tier |
| Headline rail | 9V/2.77A class | The profile that produces the 25W figure |
| Low rail | 5V/3A class | Standard charging for accessories and older devices |
| Protocol | USB-C PD with PPS | PPS is what earns the Super Fast Charging badge |
| Ports | 1× USB-C | One device at a time |
| Cable | Bundling varies by market | A standard 3A USB-C cable is sufficient here |
Do not assume a 15V or 20V rail on a 25W phone adapter: treat the useful profiles as the 9V-class and 5V rails unless the listing prints otherwise. That matters for one device — a docked Nintendo Switch wants 15V/2.6A and will not run TV mode from a phone brick of this class.
What it is genuinely good at
It is correctly sized, which is rarer than it sounds: the base Galaxy S25, S24 and S23, the Z Fold and Z Flip, and the A-series accept 25W and no more, so a 45W or 100W charger gives an identical curve. Its real PPS profile puts voltage conversion in the adapter rather than as heat in the handset, and at 3A or under an ordinary certified cable is enough.
Where it falls short, and who should skip it
A single-port phone charger and nothing more: no second port for a watch or earbuds, no rail for a laptop, no headroom if your next phone is an Ultra.
A third-party 45W or 65W GaN with a wide PPS band does all this plus the 45W tier and extra ports in a similar body; the Samsung part sells bundled certainty and firmware validation, not capability. Skip it if you own an Ultra or Plus, a premium Galaxy Tab, or want one brick to cover a laptop: 45W review.
Which devices it actually serves at full speed
| Device | Tier it supports | Fully served by 25W? |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S25, S24, S23 (base) | 25W | Yes — exact match |
| Galaxy Z Fold / Z Flip | 25W | Yes |
| Galaxy A-series | 15–25W | Yes, with headroom |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra / S25+ | 45W | No — the phone can take more |
| Galaxy Tab S9 / S10 Plus and Ultra | 45W | No — lower tier only |
| iPhone 15 / 16 | 20–27W | Effectively yes, on fixed PD |
| Nintendo Switch docked | 15V/2.6A | No — do not assume a 15V rail here |

Verdict
Buy it if your Galaxy caps at 25W, which covers most of the lineup — no e-marked cable needed. Buy the 45W only for an Ultra, a Plus or a premium Tab. For a household, a 65W-class GaN with a published PPS band beats both.

FAQ
Is 25W enough for a Galaxy S25?
Yes. The base S25 accepts 25W and no more, so a larger adapter gives an identical curve. Only Plus, Ultra and premium Tab models use 45W.
Does the 25W adapter need a special cable?
No. Current stays at or below 3A here, so any certified USB-C cable works. The e-marked 5A requirement starts at 45W.
Will it charge an iPhone?
Yes, on fixed-rail PD at the iPhone's own ceiling. It is a standards-compliant USB-C PD charger.
My phone says Fast Charging, not Super Fast Charging. Why?
The PPS handshake did not complete: a cable that cannot carry the current, no PPS profile in the charger, or fast charging switched off.
