Nomad: the highest price per watt on this site.

Nomad sells design. The catalog is small, the finishes are Horween leather and machined metal rather than glossy ABS, and the wall adapters cost roughly what a 100W three-port GaN brick costs at 65W. That is a real trade, not a scam — you just need to know which side of it you are on.

Read the lineup as an accessory brand, not a power brand

Nomad's centre of gravity is cases, watch bands, magnetic stands and cables. The power adapters exist to complete a desk, and there are only a couple of them — a 65W-class GaN wall unit and higher-output desk pieces — rather than the 20W-to-240W ladder you get from UGREEN or Anker. Nothing in the range targets a 16″ MacBook Pro at 140W PD 3.1.

Where Nomad is objectively strong is cables. Braided, reinforced, generously long, and rated for real laptop current rather than the 3A minimum — which matters more than most buyers realise, because an underspecified cable silently caps a 100W adapter. That failure mode is explained in the e-marked cable guide.

The last row is the one to internalise. A 65W adapter delivers 65W whether it costs $25 or $75; USB-C Power Delivery negotiation is a standard, and premium construction changes durability and looks, not the volts on the wire.

The Nomad buy that always makes sense: the cable, not the brick. A well-built 100W-rated USB-C cable outlives three chargers, and it is the component you yank, coil and step on daily.

Who should skip Nomad

Skip it if the charger lives behind a couch or in a bag — you cannot see the machining from there. Skip it if you need four ports, PPS for a Galaxy, or 140W-plus for a large laptop; the range simply does not go there, and Satechi covers the same design-conscious brief with a broader wattage ladder. Buy Nomad when the adapter is furniture: a bedside table, an open shelf, a desk you photograph. The wider argument about paying for a name is in official vs third-party, and the size-versus-price maths behind modern bricks is in GaN vs silicon.

FAQ

Does a Nomad charger charge faster than a cheap one of the same wattage?

No. Delivered power is set by the negotiated USB-C PD profile, so a 65W Nomad and a 65W budget GaN charge an identical laptop at an identical rate. You pay for materials, finish and support, not speed.

Does Nomad make a charger for a 16-inch MacBook Pro?

Their wall range tops out well below the 140W PD 3.1 that fast-charges a 16-inch MacBook Pro. A 65W-class unit will still charge it — slowly, and slower still under heavy load.

Are Nomad cables worth it?

They are the strongest part of the range. A laptop-rated braided cable removes the most common cause of unexplained slow charging, which is a cable rated for less current than the adapter can supply.
