Can I use a 65W charger on a MacBook Pro 16″?
Yes — slowly, and under sustained heavy work the battery can still drain while plugged in. The 16″ negotiates 140W over PD 3.1 at 28V; a 65W adapter supplies its 20V rail and the machine takes what it can get.
Do third-party chargers work properly with macOS?

Why does my MacBook charge slower than the adapter's rating?
