Protege travel USB: first work out which product you are buying.
Travel-accessory brands sell two very different things under nearly identical names: a plug adapter that changes the prong shape, and a wall charger that converts power.
Why this review looks different
Our pages are built from published specifications, certification records and manufacturer documentation — see disclosure. Protege is a general-merchandise travel line: no datasheet, no USB-IF entry, listings that reuse a name across revisions. We are therefore not publishing an output table for this product, because we cannot verify one that will match the unit in the box.

The critical fact under both columns: essentially every US-sold USB-C charger already accepts 100–240V input, so travellers need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter — converters are for heating elements and motors. See adapters versus converters and plug types by country.
What the tier is genuinely good at
Bag-of-holding duty. A cheap unit that puts a foreign plug on your US charger, or gives a hotel nightstand two USB ports for a phone and earbuds, is doing real work: small loads — a phone overnight, a tracker, a Kindle — cap far below 12W anyway.
Where it falls short, and who should skip it
A USB-A output at 5V is the ceiling here, and 5V is the problem: fast charging needs a higher rail — 9V on an iPhone, a PPS band on a Galaxy — so a 5V-only port gives overnight charging and nothing better.
With multiple ports the total is shared, and here the split is almost never published. Safety is the real gap: a mains part with no printed certification mark has no independent assessment behind it — the one category where cheap means risk, not just slow charging: charger safety. Skip it if you travel with a laptop, want fast phone charging, or this would be your only charger.

Verdict
Judge it by which of the two it actually is. As a plug adapter for your own 100–240V charger it is fine, the USB ports a bonus for earbuds. As your primary charger abroad it is not enough for any modern phone, tablet or laptop.
