Travel adapter vs voltage converter: they solve different problems.
A plug adapter changes the shape of the prongs. A converter changes the voltage on the wire. Every USB-C charger sold in the US is already 100–240V, so almost no traveller needs the second device.

Read the fine print on your charger
Turn any USB-C charger over and look for the input line. If it says 100–240V ~ 50/60Hz — and on a modern charger it does — the internal supply already handles the whole world's mains, including the 230V at 50Hz used across Europe, the UK, Australia, India and most of Africa and Asia. When a converter is genuinely required
Only when the appliance turns electricity into heat or motion and is labelled for a single voltage — a 120V-only hair dryer, curling iron, travel kettle or a small motorised appliance. Those have no switching supply to adapt, so 230V into a 120V element means roughly four times the intended power and a burning smell. Even then a step-down converter is a heavy, wattage-limited compromise, and a dual-voltage version of the appliance is almost always the better answer. Verdict
Buy the plug adapter; do not buy a converter. For a traveller carrying phones, laptops, tablets and cameras — which is nearly every traveller — the only requirement abroad is a prong shape that fits, because the chargers themselves are already dual-voltage. A universal plug adapter plus one good GaN charger is the entire kit. The exception, and it is the only one: if you must travel with a single-voltage heating appliance or a small motorised device, you need a wattage-rated step-down converter as well as the plug adapter — and you should seriously consider buying a dual-voltage replacement instead, since a converter that can handle a 1,800W hair dryer is heavier than most people's carry-on allowance justifies.
